The Town of Plymouth Massachusetts does not maintain an "Excess Funds" list. We initiate the foreclosure process through the Boston Land Court. If, after receiving the foreclosure decree, we are unable to secure payment in full from the property owner, a determination is made to keep the property in the Town name for municipal purposes or to auction the property at fair market value. All proceeds of the sale are booked to the Towns General Cash Fund.
Our last Town Auction was several years ago and although we have foreclosed on other homes since we have been successful in administering workout plans with the homeowner/mortgage company. Should we have any proprieties to be auctioned, we advertise in two local newspapers, the Old Colony Memorial and the Patriot Ledger 30 days in advance of a Town Auction and post the inventory for sale on the Town of Plymouth website.
