Darby Pond Well Water Supply Protection Land & Parting Ways

  1. 1 Darby Pond back by the forest and blue sky

Darby Pond Well Water Supply Protection Land (Darby) & Parting Ways is a collection of two Open Space parcels in West Plymouth accessible from Plympton Road near the Kingston town line. Parting Ways is a 42-acre area of open space designated for future cemetery use and under the care and control of the Plymouth DPW. We have worked with them to allow walking access through the property to Darby Pond, even when it is called into service. We will continue to maintain the trail through the future and work with them on design should the route need to change.

Walking access to Darby Pond is achieved by first walking through Parting Ways, crossing the powerline easement, and walking through the former cranberry bog or the upland trail that parallels the bog. High vegetation on the easement may prevent seeing across it to the next free-standing blazer; you'll simply want to walk beneath the tower directly in front of you to the opposite site to pick up the trail again. The perimeter of the former cranberry bogs and any former bog road are all open for walking and passive recreation.

If you take the upland trail, be sure to check out the amphitheater back in the woods! This was created by the former Boy Scout owners and several of the benches have been refurbished- this is a great spot to sit and be absorbed by nature around you.
